The theme of January was “The New Year “ and “Japanese Culture”, The Seal Class boys enjoyed playing “hanetsuki” for a long time in the gym. They were having a bit of a hard time hitting the shuttlecock, so we teachers tied it with strings from above so they could hit it more easily with the “hagoita”.

Some Penguin Class girls enjoyed cooking in the play-kitchen. We put out some Japanese bowls and “O-jyu-bako” (like a big stacking lunch box in which Japanese new year foods are arranged).

Also the bigger kids played “Fukuwarai” and “Sugoroku” too.
