Because the new year has started and Japan has many customs for the new year season, we have begun to learn about “Japanese traditions” for our theme this month.
We also learned about the Chinese zodiac. We named all 12 animals, and Dolphin students tried to line them up in order. We also made “e-ma” with a snake (as this is the Year of the Snake.) Penguin and Starfish students used clay to make a snake. They enjoyed kneading it, rolling it, and squeezing it. Dolphin students wrote their “new year resolution” on their e-ma.
