This month, because we’ll celebrate American Thanksgiving and Japanese Labor Thanksgiving, our students have begun learning about our community, community helpers, and occupations.

For our first activity, the students made houses: the Penguin and Starfish Class students stuck windows and doors on their houses. The Starfish students have started learning how to cut paper along a straight line.

The Dolphin Class students made their houses with milk cartons. After that, we looked at a big map and named some of the community buildings, such as police stations, hospitals, restaurants, etc. The Dolphin Class students went outside to take photos of community buildings in our neighborhood.

They’ve learned the word “neighborhood”!

We’re planning to make a big map of our neighborhood this month.
