Happy Chinese New year!!🧧

This week we celebrated the Chinese New Year! Dolphin students made a big Chinese ‘lion’ (dragon) — they observed pictures of it and then made a face and a tail. They created it all by themselves! They researched this creature in books and found out some dragons have scales, long whiskers, and legs. They made very cool-looking ‘lions’!

Then, we all made dumplings together. First they cut Chinese cabbage and maitake mushrooms, and mixed those with tofu. When they folded pleats in the wrappers, they did a great job! And they ate them so nicely.  At first, a few students said they wouldn’t eat them (because there was no meat in them). But after they tasted one, they wanted ‘seconds’ (“okawari”)!
