As it’s too difficult to see or catch real bees, we used a toy bee to learn about them. The students learned that honeycombs are made up of hexagons, so they made their own honeycomb by connecting hexagons.
Then we compared queen bees and worker bees. They were surprised to learn that a ‘bee family’ is mostly females and there are not many male bees in it.
We concluded our bee learning project with a tasting of two different kinds of honey: one made from acacia and the other made from clover.
